Should I send in a video submission if I plan to attend an open casting call?

It is not required, but we recommend you do so. There are several reasons why it is an advantage to submit a video even if you plan to meet our casting team in person. It gives our casting team a chance to get familiar with you and it also could act as a second chance if you were having a bad day or were not selected for a one-on-one interview at the open casting call.

*The video and application submissions deadline via email or mail must be received or postmarked by Monday, May 13th, 2013 5pm PST. Deadline subject to change as determined by the producers. For full instructions on how to apply click HERE.

What if I cannot attend a casting call or make a video?

In order to consider you, we need to meet you at one of our open casting calls or receive a video submission. If you do not have a video camera, we suggest looking into your local resources (i.e., borrowing one from friends or family, library, film school students, etc).

What should I bring to the open casting call?

1. PHOTO(S) - We recommend, but do not require, you to bring a non-returnable, recent photo of yourself. You may also bring photos (if applicable) of you when you were thin, an athlete, prom queen/king, marathon runner or even you as a heavy child to support your story. Please limit this to four (4) additional photos.

2. It is a good idea to bring water, snacks and a folding chair for your wait in line.

3. A PEN - You will be required to fill out a short form which will be provided the day of the open call.

*You do NOT need to bring the Contestant Application (accessible on this site) to the open casting call. You will be given a Casting Call Application (not accessbilbe on this site) the day of your open call.

What should I wear to the open casting call?

Please be presentable and look your best. Wear something that best represents you and that is comfortable, as you will be waiting in line.

What should I expect at the open casting call?

Our casting team will be holding group interviews at the open call. BE YOURSELF! We understand that for some, this may be nerve-racking and that's ok, we understand! This opportunity may change your life and we want to give everyone the best shot of achieving their transformation goals.

You may receive a call the evening of or up to 2 days after the open casting call for a “callback,” which a is one-on-one on-camera interview with our casting directors. If you traveled from out of town, you may be asked to stay in town or travel back for your callback interview later that week. If you do not get a callback, we encourage you to send in a video submission.

What should I expect after the open casting call?

If you are moving on to the next step of the casting process, you will be contacted by phone as early as the night of the open casting call to approximately 24 hours after the open casting call. The next step involves an on-camera interview with just you and the Casting Directors. If you receive a "callback" we will fill you in with the details.

Will everyone in line have the opportunity to be seen by the casting team at the open casting call?

We will try our best to see everyone who shows up. It is rare that everyone in line is not seen; however, if we are unable to meet everyone the day of the open casting call, we will collect the Casting Call Applications (distributed that day) of those that were not seen and follow up with them on a later date.

If I am selected to participate on the show, what is my time commitment?

If you are selected as a contestant you must be available to commit yourself to the competition and taping of the show for approximately 5 months (dates to be determined by the producers). Dates are always subject to change.

Will I be notified if I am selected or not?

Unfortunately, we cannot contact every person who applies and inform them of their status. However, we will update our website, Facebook and Twitter accounts as soon as all the finalists have been selected and notified.

Should I quit my weight loss plan since I am applying for a weight loss show?

Absolutely not. We encourage you to continue with your weight loss throughout the process. If you are not selected for the show, then you are already on the right track to a healthier lifestyle and meeting your weight loss goal.

Is there a weight requirement to apply?

You are strongly encouraged to apply if you have at least 80 lbs to lose.
